Back among the wildflowers
Hello and welcome
Hi, I'm Rachel 👋 After being mostly at home throughout covid, and then welcoming my first child and all that entails, it was time to dust off the old hiking boots again!
I grew up exploring the outdoors and pouring over nature guidebooks, lost that connection for a while in favor of that enticing and exciting big city life, and have been rediscovering nature ever since. Living in Prince Edward County and working in an ecological field, I am fortunate to be surrounded by a rich and diverse natural world.
Through County Flora, and before that Peterborough Flora, I have shared my flora finds from my various hikes. And after the pandemic disruption and new mom hiatus, I am ready to share again.

County Flora is an inspirational and educational space. Whether you're looking to get to know your local flora for the first time, deepen your plant knowledge, or bring a bit of floral cheer to your feed, you've found the right space. We're happy to have you here among your fellow flora fans!
What you'll find here
Throughout the growing season, I’ll be bringing you what's blooming. Each week, you'll be introduced to what's growing in and around Prince Edward County, much of which can be found in northeast America and elsewhere.
Being out in nature means that I run into other amazing creatures. So you'll probably get some birds and frog in your feed now and again too. Being in nature also makes me reflective, so you can expect the occassional rambling too. If you've arrived here from my Instagram, then you know what I mean.
Eventually, I plan to introduce paid subscriptions. But for now everything is open.

Hi Rachel, so cool you are using remote sensing. Over the years, I have used a lot of ESRI technology in the medical field.
